An octogenarian attacked by a vulture

#AVEYRON An 86-year-old resident of Verrières was attacked by a vulture on Sunday, September 22. “I have two fingers that no longer work, my arm is stitched up, my right hand and an ankle are badly damaged… “I am traumatized”  the victim confided to the Journal de Millau.

What was this vulture doing in the garden of this retired couple ? Why did it attack this lady ? According to the LPO, “it is an unfortunate combination of bad circumstances”. “This bird is a young one of the year. These are birds that are in trouble, it is the emancipation phase."

This Friday, September 27, the vulture is still being sought by the gendarmerie, the OFB (French Biodiversity Office) and the LPO.

The route of the future THT line is hotly contested

#GARD This Friday, September 27, the prefect of the Paca Region Christophe Mirmand received several elected officials and representatives of the agricultural world from Gard and Bouches-du-Rhône to Marseille.

Objective: to reveal the results of the first phase of consultation which confirms the route considered to be the “least impactful” of the future very high voltage line (400,000 volts) between Fos-sur-Mer (13) and Jonquières Saint-Vincent. This THT line has encountered strong opposition from elected officials of all sides, opposed to the disfigurement of landscapes by overhead lines, and some of whom contest the very meaning of the project.

Elected officials and candidates suspected of pedophilia

#TOULOUSE Eight men, including two political figures, are suspected of having solicited sexual relations with 14-year-old boys, announces La Dépêche. An investigation has just been opened by the Toulouse prosecutor's office. During the investigations, the police were able to consult part of the exchanges between the suspects and the young victims."These discussions are damning",assures one of the lawyers. At that time, the elected officials regretted having given in to their urges. They assured that they had never taken the step with a minor.

A unique regional fishing industry contract

#OCCITANIE The Occitanie marine fishing and fish farming industry contract was signed this Friday, September 27 at the Paul-Bousquet sea high school in Sète. This contract is the first of its kind in France. A document valid for three years (2024-2026) with the aim of uniting the fishing industry and planning the best possible responses to the challenges of tomorrow (climate change, European regulations, scarcity of resources, etc.).

In Occitanie, contracts for the shellfish farming sector and nautical industries have already been signed between the State, the Occitanie Region and affiliated federations. With just over 610 vessels and nearly 1,260 sailors, Occitanie is the leading fishing region on the Mediterranean coast. “Fishing is an essential activity here. It was also necessary to help the profession to structure itself, to organize itself”, indicates Pierre-André Durand, prefect of the Occitanie region. The State is thus committed to acting by supporting scientific research

#ECONOMY On average, in the second quarter of 2024, the unemployment rate in Occitanie stands at 8.7% of the working population, a decrease of 0.2% compared to the previous quarter, indicates INSEE.

At the end of June 2024, Occitanie had 14,100 more employees than a year earlier (+0.6%). As for activity, measured by the volume of paid work, it increased by 0.4% in the second quarter compared to the same period in 2023.
