Anniversary of October 7: tribute and reflection this Monday evening on the Comédie

Around 300 people took part in a rally on Monday evening on Place de la Comédie in tribute to the victims of the massacres of October 7, 2023 perpetrated by Hamas.

Around 300 people took part in a rally on Monday evening on Place de la Comédie in tribute to the 1,205 victims killed by Hamas soldiers on October 7, 2023. An initiative of the collective for the release of hostages, made up of around fifteen associations from the city's Jewish community.

The chilling story of sexual violence

A "moment of contemplation" in the words of one of the organizers. “We cannot forget these horrors committed by Hamas and the cycle of violence into which the entire region has been plunged” said the collective whose members read a dozen chilling testimonies on the sexual violence committed during this day of massacre.

“The barbarity of this October 7”

Fragments of stories that are now well documented and that speak of the extreme systematic violence deployed against the victims, the scenes of gang rape, the mutilations, the sadistic practices, notably against the participants of the Nova music festival where 364 people were killed. But also in certain kibbutzim where “women, girls of all ages were targeted”. “These are testimonies that are hard to hear but that speak of the barbarity of this October 7" one of the readers pointed out. The collective is also concerned about the persistence of these “sexual violence in times of war” against the 97 hostages still held by Hamas. “These men and women are transformed into puppets on a string. Everything must be done to free them".

The rally attended by Michaël Delafosse and NFP MP Fanny Dombre-Coste took place in pouring rain and in front of a large police presence. No incidents were reported. A more religious tribute was then organized at the Synagogue des Beaux-Arts.
