APL: amount, beneficiaries, calendar… what will change in the calculation of aid paid by CAF in 2024

The calculation of personalized housing assistance depends on several elements including inflation. The amount paid could therefore increase in 2024. We take stock. 

In January, the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) carries out a new calculation of your rights based on your income two years ago. For 2024, it is therefore based on 2022 income and on the new scales applicable to social and family benefits, including personalized housing assistance (APL), family housing allowance (ALF) and social housing allowance (ALS). 

Increased resource caps

According to a report from the Ministry of Cities and Housing, cited by TF1, nearly 5.8 million households benefited in 2022, receiving an average monthly amount of 212 euros. The amounts vary depending on the income, family situation and place of residence of the beneficiary. 

The resource ceilings taken into account to receive family allowances in 2024, paid by the CAF or the agricultural social mutuality, were increased by 5.3% to take into account of the rise in consumer prices linked to inflation.

To receive the maximum, a single person must earn less than 5,186 euros per year. This figure increases to 7,430 euros for a couple without children and increases with the composition of the household. For a couple with three children, it will be 9,408 euros.

Possible increase in the amount of the allowance

If neither your income nor your family situation has changed during the year 2023 and you have not moved, it is likely that the amount of your allowance increases. 

Personalized housing assistance is revalued every October 1st depending on the evolution of the Indian rent reference (IRL) for the 2nd quarter of the year in progress, its amount is likely to change between now and the end of the year.

"Taking into account new resource ceilings is a good opportunity to carry out a simulation and discover that you may be entitled to certain aid", specifies the CAF website.

2024 Calendar

In general, the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) pays social and family benefits on a fixed date, the 5th of each month. If the 5th falls on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, payment will be made on the nearest next business day.

Taking this parameter into account, family allowances and benefits will be paid on May 6, October 4 and January 6, 2025 for December allowances. ;
