On Monday, August 26, French President Emmanuel Macron ruled out the option of a left-wing government, in the name of “institutional stability”, and announced new consultations starting this Tuesday, August 27, “with party leaders and personalities”, according to a press release from the Elysée.

He urged socialists, environmentalists and communists to “cooperate with other political forces”,without naming La France Insoumise with which the latter formed the left-wing alliance of the New Popular Front, which came out on top in the legislative elections but without an absolute majority in the National Assembly.

On BFMTV, Manuel Bompard castigates Emmanuel Macron's statements. "It's a completely unacceptable anti-democratic coup de force", he judges, considering that the argument of the head of state "makes no sense".
