Second part of our series "Dogs and cats: my vacations in good company". Today we present to you Miaou Coffee, in the city center of Béziers. It's a café almost like any other… except for four cats. 

Open for a month, Miaou Coffee works a bit of magic on faces, inevitably lightened by contact with the four playful cats who come and go between the tables, the bridge and the ;cat tree and the cozy corner and its seats. Here, the customer comes to have a drink and enjoy the presence of the cats.

"We have tourists whose cats are missing, students who come to work, single people who come…” lists Johanna Delauzun, founder of Miaou Coffee.

Instant vivant

Vic, a beautiful Bengal, Smoke, a Maine coon, Glu, a Siamese and Savannah, a European cat, take turns being caressed by Australian-American tourists present that day. Their young son, with a cat toy in his hand and an unwavering smile on his face, is playing with one of them.

The child is followed by the laughing eyes of his relatives. "I notice that the people who come are talking to each other. They are on their phones but it is mainly to take pictures", notes the owner of the place.

Here, people come to have their coffee, their bubble tea, accompanied by their muffin or cookie (everything is made home) for a moment "disconnected, out of time". "Sometimes, customers come in with a closed, bitter face. When they come out, they are relaxed and smiling", assures Johanna Delauzun.

She adds that a newcomer will soon join the team of "working cats", a tomcat of the iconic Sphynx breed.

Miaou Coffee, 1 rue du Chapeau Rouge in Béziers. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Consumption required. Young children accepted if supervised.
