The presence of the president of the National Rally Jordan Bardella annoyed local elected officials. 

Two places, two atmospheres! The 27th edition of the Abrivado des Plages du Grau-du-Roi, always synonymous with the restart of the bouvine season, took a very political turn this Saturday. After Marine Le Pen in 2002, it was the turn of the president of the RN, Jordan Bardella, to discover the event which, by the sea, attracts tens of thousands of spectators.

We met at the Bamboo Beach hut, which had just reopened and was crowded for the occasion. Many curious people, and journalists, approached the boss of the RN, surrounded by the four Gard deputies of his party (Yoann Gillet, Nicolas Meizonnet, Pierre Meurin and Pascal Bordes), but also by Julien Sanchez, mayor of Beaucaire, and of MEP Jean-Paul Garraud. Referring to "rooting and anchoring", the politician rejected criticism from local elected officials on the very "people" of this visit, which mainly consisted of showing off and responding to the numerous requests for selfies. For the substance of the speech, the MEP will be in a meeting in Marseille with his boss this Sunday.

Local elected officials annoyed by "pre-emption"

For Robert Crauste, mayor of Grau-du-Roi, the arrival of a leader of the RN to Abrivado des beaches, for the second time in two years, is a source irritation. "Seeing this event preempted as part of a campaign doesn't suit me! This monopolization annoys me. To support his anti-RN remarks, the mayor invited neighboring and committed elected officials to the traditional press conference to present the season.
