At the Athénée, competition, official opening and first film for the Traversées film festival

La soirée d’ouverture s’est déroulée en présence du créateur de la manifestation Jacques Choukroun.
This Friday evening saw the three shots of the 40th Traversées film festival organized by the Pêcheurs d’Images association and which takes place every day until Saturday April 6 at ;rsquo;Athenaeum. A new edition which, after beginning with the competition of 7 short films competing for the public prize and that of high school students, was opened by the two co-presidents of Pêcheurs d’Images, Kristian Savineau and Stanislav Demidjuk.
Creator Jacques Choukroun discusses the genesis of the festival
Fortieth edition obliges, they especially honored and gave the floor to the founder of the event, Jacques Choukroun. The latter recalled the genesis of what was originally called, in 1984, the Mediterranean Cinema Week in Lunel and of which the MJC of Lunel and the Mrap were the initiators.
Presence and support of elected officials from the City and the Region
This official opening also allowed Sylvie Thomas, for the Region, and Corinne Poléri, for the City, to reiterate their attachment to and the support of their respective communities for the Traversées film festival. Sylvie Thomas notably underlined that « for 40 years, the festival has been part of a sharing of cultures. It makes you travel and think. » Corinne Poléri, for her part, compared Traversées to « a platform for exchanges and dialogue which makes the territory shine. »
A first film and a first guest
In the process, it is with L’the air of the sea makes free, the second film shot in France by Nadir Moknèche, that the big screen in room 1 of the ;Athénée lit up in his presence. A film which ended with a debate with the director.
