At the Nîmes media library, still a bit of a thrill ?

The Carré d’art media library in Nîmes offers to immerse yourself in the history of the greatest horror films produced by Warner.

From the beginning, the history of cinema has been thrilling. With "Soirée frisson", the Carré d’art media library in Nîmes immerses film buffs in the great Warner films, through a series of cult productions from the 1970s to the beginning of the 21st century.

Photos, figurines, models, magazines… It is impressive to note to what extent, even for the public not necessarily fond of the genre, the big productions have built and marked the imagination. After the monsters of the 1950s, the style became more claustrophobic and psychological with films like The Exorcist by William Friedkin or The Shining by Stanley Kubrick and his Overlook Hotel whose wallpaper is found.

Psychopathic killers< /h2>

In the 1980s, horror cinema shifted towards slasher cinema with bloodthirsty and relentless killers. Anxiety, nightmares, strong emotions for the spectators and boxes full of dollars for the producers. A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th… Studios invested in franchises and it paid off, to the point that they even decided to democratize the genres by mixing it with humor and comedy. The exhibition goes back over the history of Gremlins at length, with photos and a documentary. All that's missing is the popcorn!

Until November 2. Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Galerie de l’atrium, Carré d’art, place de la Maison-Carrée, Nîmes. Free admission. 04 66 76 35 03.

The exhibition is accompanied by screenings, workshops and a murder party, from October 22 to 25.
