Baccalaureate 2024: Montpellier students worked on philosophy this Tuesday morning, discover the subjects

Ce mardi 18 juin, les candidats au baccalauréat ont dû plancher sur les sujets de philosophie. Une épreuve qui marque le top départ de l’examen pour les terminales.
This Tuesday, June 18 in the morning, 9 549 students from Hérault went to their examination center for the philosophy test which took place from 8 a.m. to noon.
The subjects
The 6 835 Hérault students registered in the general series and whose coefficient is 8, had the choice between two essay topics and an explanation of the text.
Topic 1: Can science satisfy our need for truth?
Topic 2: Does the State owe us anything?
The explanation of text: an extract from "La Condition Ouvrière" by Simone Weil from 1943.
As for the 2,714 Hérault students registered in the technological series and whose coefficient is 4, they had the choice between two others dissertation topics and another explanation of text.
Topic 1: Is nature hostile to man?
Topic 2: Is the artist the master of his work??
The text explanation: “The IX laws”, by Plato (4th century BC)

Like every year, the rector of the Montpellier Academy goes to a high school for the start of the baccalaureate exams.

This year, she went to Jules-Guesde.
Some were still exchanging on the tram what had inspired them or not.
The other written tests, those of the specialties will take place this Wednesday 19, Thursday 20 and Friday 21 June. And the oral exam will take place from Monday, June 24 to July 3.
We will have to wait for the results on Monday, July 8 to know the grade for the philosophy paper (and all the other tests.)
