On the Ramilles and Chapter side, the river has settled down, extending widely.

On this Sunday, March 10, 2024, many curious people took a Sunday stroll to observe the scars left by the night's floods. Thus, in Mende, the banks of the Lot were frequented, whether in town or towards the west exit.

On the side of Rieucros

In Mende, Mayor Laurent Suau reported a big black spot: the road to Marates, on the Rieucros side, which leads to the Mas, was damaged, part of the roadway was washed away. The inhabitants of Aspres and Asprettes must therefore make a detour.

In Ramilles, the Lot took advantage of the Mende Plage plain and part of the low parking lot of the supermarket to spread out widely, leaving sown branches in its path, particularly at the tavern. Some banks are just out of the water surface.

On the other side, at the Chapter, the spectacle is even more impressive. The numerous springs that flow on this side join the waters of the river, the road is completely covered with several centimeters of water, from the parking lot of the shops to ;at the entrance to the sports complex (the stadium has become a vast body of water). It is also blocked from vehicles.

Road blocked in Chapter

José Botelho therefore left his car there, this morning, and started, sometimes with water up to his ankles, the path which leads to the shared gardens. "I've had a plot there for forty years, it's flooded every time it floods. I came yesterday, and this morning I looked from the viaduct, it was still very drowned."

On the way, a gardener who comes back says to him: "Well, your garden is finished for the moment!" José Botelho will still go to the end. And we can only see that the salads and garlic which were already starting to grow are indeed ruined. "It doesn't matter, we'll do some sowing again", lets out the gardener, accustomed to floods.< /p>

The shared gardens drowned

Léon Pradeilles, one of his vegetable garden neighbors, also came, on foot, to measure the extent of the flood. "Well, it's a lake, now . I brought a trailer of manure, I imagine that now my manure is at the Castelnaud dam, just before Espalion."

These are just gardens, the two friends will do their best against bad luck. "But now, we'll have to wait a while before we can do anything."
