Basketball: BLMA loses its international insider Marième Badiane, who will end the season at Fenerbahçe

Après le départ de Julie Vanloo pour Galatasaray en tout début de saison, les Gazelles voient une autre de leurs cadres quitter le club en cours de saison : Marième Badiane. L'intérieure du BLMA rejoint la Turquie et Fenerbahçe, champion d'Europe en titre.

Still in the race in the championship (5th) and in the Eurocup (quarter-final), the BLMA will have to do without Marième Badiane (1.90m, 29 years old) at the end of the season. The Latto-Montpellier club announced, via a press release, the departure of its player with immediate effect.

The original Brestoise, who returns from the TQO in China with the French team (6.3 pts and 6.3 rebounds in 15 minutes), heads to join Fenerbahçe and its squad full of stars. Emma Meesseman, Yvonne Anderson and Napheesa Collier, led by former Bleues coach Valérie Garnier, will play the Euroleague quarter-finals with the ambition of going to the bout. 

Second time after Vanloo

Marième Badiane, who arrived at Lattes-Montpellier in the summer of 2022, was able, under the orders of Valéry Demory, to find a place in the French team. This season, "Badou", very valuable, averaged 11.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in the league and 14.8 pts and 5 .2 rebounds on average in the Eurocup.

After the surprise departure of Julie Vanloo at the very start of the season, the club of general manager Olivier Ribotta is deprived of a new top-ranked player. In the transaction, the BLMA still had to receive a nice transfer fee.
