Stéphane Olivieri's men won 81-90 in Ossun this Saturday March 2.
It’s a long journey across Occitanie that the Frontignan La Peyrade Basket troops made to play the last match of the first leg. The Hautes-Pyrénées, its County of Bigorre, the postcard had enough to embellish a perilous trip for a team which no longer has the right to make mistakes.
The match played in a hostile room, with an audience reluctant to see their team suffer a fifth defeat, will have changed in the third quarter. Until then, the score of 45-45 at the break shows that the match had been close.
Acceleration
Yes but here it is, this season the Frontignanais-Lapeyradois are capable of overturning mountains, especially in this part of the country. With a +13 at the end of the third quarter, the Bigourdans had to chase the score, helped in the final by refereeing decisions that were not always understood.
For the coach, Stéphane Olivieri, the victory is logical: « We did what was necessary, we knew how to support where it hurts and be united in our efforts. We remain in the race, it is in the next two matches that we will have to be very good ». Kimou Obin-Yapi was absent, so he did not have the chance to return, like the rest of the group, at dawn on a cool and rainy Sunday morning.
