BeeMob transport network impersonated on Facebook, customers scammed

Sur Facebook, trois comptes ont imité celui du réseau de bus de l’agglomération Béziers Méditerranée, proposant des abonnements à moindre coût. Des clients sont tombés dans le panneau.

The bus transport network of the Béziers Méditerranée urban area is the subject of identity theft. This summer, three fake accounts took over the cover and profile photo as well as the general information of the official beeMob Facebook page.

Only the name of these apocrypha changes. BeeMob Card, BeeMob Transport Card and Béziers Public Transport Card instead of Beemob Agglomération Béziers Méditerranée, title of the official page.

These fake accounts all posted a similar publication between July 1st and August 4th, encouraging people to click on a link supposedly allowing them to apply for a special offer with limited places. The latter would allow you to take the bus all year round for 2 euros.

"We know that people have been taken in"

A fraudulent offer denied by the official beeMob account. In a publication dated August 5, the names of the three fake accounts were published as well as the message: “Do not respond to their requests.”

Vectalia, the company managing transport in the urban area, claims to have reported the fraudulent accounts, which its communications officer describes as “rather well done“.”We know that people have been fooled. And customers have come to us asking questions about the fake accounts. But after our denials, the questions stopped, she says.
