Before the resumption of the championship, the Rugby Club of Sète only knows one enemy

Last season, in Fédérale 3, left traces that the Sète players will have to erase.

This Sunday, September 15 (3 p.m. at the Bayrou stadium), the Sète rugby players will make their big return to Fédérale 3 with the arrival of Vendres. New season and new start for a group that has a lot to prove. «  We must erase what was a trauma for the team and for me in particular», declares president Jean-Luc Fabre. «  This match against Jacou has left its mark, it must be permanently present in our minds.  »

Charter of good conduct

The club has thus drawn up a charter, signed by the players and which obliges them to behave well on and off the field. Another will be given to the supporters at the entrance to the stadium. «  To reach the next level, we will need total control. Our enemy is ourselves. The coaches will apply themselves to ensuring that all of this is respected. »

The coaches, precisely, will rely on their experience to drive the bus to the right destination. With Éric Piazza, former player of Béziers, and Anthony Estruch, former player of Pézenas and Agde, the club relies on real connoisseurs of the field.

On the squad side, RC Sète has signed Mickaël Wolff (Pézenas), Renaud Droitecour (Agde), Raymond Amaya (Toulon), Hakim Bouzir (Palavas) and Tristan Sarralié (Agde). That's it for the forward pack. Two scrum-halves are also joining the club, Yann Perez and Matthieu Pomery. As for the back lines, they will be reinforced by Thomas Gayé (Agde), Evan Rotondo (Agde) and Florian Fournier (Lieuran).

A tough group

A recruitment that will have to live up to expectations, because what awaits RC Sète this season is no walk in the park. «  We have a difficult group, with Marseille, Draguignan, Corbières XV who is champion of France R2 and R1, Vendres… We have long trips. We will have to remain humble, we are not sure of being in the four. Moderation and humility will be the key words. »

Other projects

To continue to grow, RC Sète has also placed the emphasis on youth, through a cadet and junior gathering with AS Poussan XV, ratified by the League and the FFR. «  We're giving ourselves another month to open up to other categories, still with Poussan.  »

Sponsoring is also under construction. «  It's still our main concern and our weak point. Benjamin Arnau, my vice-president, whom I consider my co-president, works hard on this sector. Those who love rugby must understand that we need companies on our side.  »
