Béziers: the automobile, eco-mobility and utility show, an opportunity to lift the brakes on electric vehicles

Les concessionnaires biterrois sont au rendez-vous. Midi Libre – Dorian Cayuela

L’événement biterrois est le moment idéal pour les exposants de rencontrer le public parfois sceptique face aux nouvelles motorisations.

The Béziers automobile show is an opportunity for local dealers to meet potential buyers in order to reassure them about their questions regarding the ecological transition that is affecting the sector: "The The first thing we ask visitors is how they use their vehicles and their type of journey on a daily basis, explains Alexandre Aude, sales advisor at Ford Béziers. We feel that the ecological concept is important. At the moment, we do a lot of long-term electric rentals. We advise avoiding the purchase and rental with purchase option (LOA) on 100% electric since we do not yet have enough perspective. I find that people are quite skeptical about autonomy on motorways, terminal networks… You have to say that the electric, for the moment, is a complementary car, for everyday use, for going to work for example."

"Hard to go back"

For Kévin Sale, Renault Béziers sales advisor, the main questions relate to autonomy and recharging: "We explain the different battery levels, the actual consumption, the cost of the battery ;rsquo;electric, tax advantages… Thanks to the new equipment in our cars, all these brakes are lessened. With the applications broadcast on the screen, we can plan our recharges, know how much it will cost us, see the availability of the terminals… hellip; You should also know that an electric recharge costs five euros when a full tank of gasoline at 1.80 euros per liter will cost 12 or 13 euros per 100 kilometers. Customers who buy are very happy, they are reassured because they are supported. Once you've tasted it, it's hard to go back."

It is even worth looking forward if we refer to the objective of a 100% electric automobile fleet in 2035. To make a first step, the plug-in hybrid represents a happy medium: "Facing visitors, I often take my example, says Alexandre Aude. I work 15 kilometers from my home, with my plug-in hybrid vehicle, I no longer go to the pump. This is a good intermediate step between thermal and 100% electric."

And if there are any stubborn questions left, the Béziers auto show is still open this Monday, June 3, at the Parc des expositions.
