The nightmare began ten years earlier. In December 2013, Thomas Bonamy was in high school. While preparing for the French baccalaureate, he began to feel fatigue, difficulty thinking and several weeks later a fever, he reported to our colleagues at La Provence.

"It’was catastrophic"

He first thinks it's the flu, but the symptoms persist and impact his schooling. It quickly became impossible for him to study: "I couldn't remember anything, it was catastrophic. I had to be out of school". It was only several months later that he was tested for Lyme disease, transmitted by tick bites.

Although the high school student claims not to remember the bite that infected him, he was bitten by around twenty ticks during his childhood, without the disease being detected.

Medical wandering

However, this long medical wandering does not end there. Antibiotics, alternative medicine and naturopathy, nothing helped, the young man's symptoms persisted. It was only a year later that the Forézien managed to find a doctor specializing in Lyme disease.

Even today, the fight continues: "Currently, I am inactive on the job market because of the symptoms of the disease. I am fighting to regain my health", he declares to our colleagues.
