La plateforme de réservation d’hôtels Booking va être soumise à des règles de concurrence plus strictes.

The European Commission announced this Monday, May 13, 2024 that the Dutch hotel reservation platform Booking was now subject to the new stricter competition rules imposed in the EU to a handful of "tech" giants.

Cutting out abuses of dominant position

The Digital Markets Regulation (DMA) aims to monitor and stem abuse of dominant position to better protect the emergence and growth of start-ups in Europe and improve the choice offered to users .

It has already been applied since the beginning of March to certain services of five American behemoths – Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft – and the social network TikTok, owned by the Chinese group ByteDance.

"We have been working for some time with the European Commission in anticipation of today’s decision, would like to let Booking know. We are currently reviewing this designation decision, and will continue to work constructively with the Commission on the implementation of compliance solutions."
