Boujan-sur-Libron is just a few hours away from the excitement of its horse and bull festival

L'année passée, les festivités avaient été couronnées d'une affluence record. D.R

Boujan-sur-Libron is getting ready to vibrate to the rhythm of equestrian and bullfighting passion, from August 1st to 4th. The festivities begin this Thursday with a before, before the shows, parades, bullfighting games and other celebrations begin. As every year, the shows and entertainment will be free.

The horse and bull festival will fill the streets of Boujan-sur-Libron starting this Thursday and lasting four days. The local bullfighting, equestrian and festive traditions will be in full swing for the 33rd edition of an intense festival with a rich program. The festivities promise to be popular: as every year, the shows and activities are free.

Last year, the festival was worthy of the best vintages. The attendances broke records, the arenas were packed to the rafters and the bullfights crowned Boujan. This year, the toro piscine could be stormed due to the intense heatwave currently affecting the Béziers region.

Boujan is not spared: Météo France is forecasting 39°C on Thursday, the day of the before. The mercury will decrease on Friday, when 37°C is expected, then over the weekend. The temperature should not exceed 34°C on Saturday and Sunday.

Intense weekend and weekend

The festivities will begin this Thursday at 7 p.m. during a before party at Domaine Augé.

The next day, after an inaugural speech by the mayor, an aperitif is offered by the municipality, hosted by the Peña du Languedoc. This will be followed by a Camargue show, i.e. performances with horses, riders, and bulls. It is the manade du Grand Salan, based in Portiragnes, which is in charge of the show.

Saturday will notably be punctuated by a release of mares and their foals in the streets of the village, a becerrade without killing and the famous intervillage bullfighting games.

Sunday will be a day d'abrivados et de toro piscine, a way to end the party in the cool. The latter will conclude with a meal and a fireworks display at 10:30 p.m.

Every evening, meals – for a fee – and entertainment are organized. The evenings last until 1 a.m.
