Several Comté references sold in supermarkets have been recalled due to the detection of Listeria, the bacteria responsible for listeriosis.

Be careful of the county that is in your fridge. Whether grated or sliced, several references were the subject of a recall this Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19 from the government site Rappel Conso. In question, the detection of Listeria monocytogenes (agent responsible for listeriosis).

This concerns the Entremont brand Comtés, sold in 120 gram trays, i.e. approximately 8 slices, and the grated Comté of the same brand sold in batches of two 70 gram sachets. The brand is sold throughout France in the Leclerc, Système U, Intermarché, Carrefour, Auchan, Monoprix, Casino and Atac brands.

Several batches of raw milk Comté marketed by the Carrefour distributor brand are also recalled for the same reasons, as well as bags of grated Comté from this same distributor brand. Details of the batches concerned are given on the Conso Rappel website.

What to do if you bought or consumed it ?

If you discover that you are in possession of one of the products affected by this recall, you are advised not to consume the cheese, to return it to the point of sale, to contact them or good to contact consumer service. A refund procedure will be offered. Consumers have until May 6 for Carrefour-brand grated Comté, until May 5 for Carrefour-brand Comte in Pieces and until April 23 for Entremont brand products.

Recall Conso warns people who have consumed the recalled products. They are in fact "invited to consult their doctor, reporting this consumption", in the event of "fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches" quot;. Listeria, a bacteria detected in the products which are the subject of this recall, is in fact responsible for Listeriosis, a disease which can take serious forms "with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage in pregnant women.
