Cats and doggies featured at the Animox animal and nature fair in Nîmes

La vingtième édition de ce salon incontournable se déroule les 9 et 10 mars au Parc Expo.10 000 visiteurs sont attendus sur deux jours par les organisateurs.

In the already long queue, in front of the entrance to the Nîmes exhibition center, this Saturday March 9 at 9 a.m., Orane, 28, is stamping his feet. ;Despite the rain, the wind and the cold, the young woman specially made the trip from Manduel to buy a small Cavalier King-Charles dog that she's nbsp;wants to treat yourself and has done so for a long time.

"The presence at the Animox show of breeders of this very specific breed of dog, adorable and perfectly adapted&nbsp ;to apartment life, convinced me to take the plunge", explains the smiling school teacher as the doors open at 9:30 a.m. sharp.

Until Sunday evening, and on more than 4,500 square meters, suffice to say that animal lovers should find their happiness here among puppies, of course, but also cats, rabbits, birds, & ;nbsp;rodents, and even…domestic ferrets.

10,000 visitors expected

" Over two days,  no less than 1,000 animals are exhibited to the public including around 400 dogs, 400 birds and 200 cats of many breeds", announced Audrey Dubourd, the organizer of &#39 ;Animox this Saturday morning from opening. "For our visitors (10,000 are expected over two days, editor's note), the show is also an opportunity for great meetings and exchanges with breeders, of course, but also with the many professionals from the animal world present, whether they are nutritionists, sellers of materials and equipment, masseurs and even… animal taxis!  ", details the professional.

Far from the crowds in front of the puppies and their adorable faces (French Bulldogs, Dwarf Spitz and other Pyrenean Shepherds…), the bird corner attracts true enthusiasts.

Demonstrations, Purebred Cat Festival

In a serious atmosphere, the breeders who came from the opening, almost snatched the most beautiful specimens among the few 400 exotic birds in rainbow colors exhibited and sold here from 15 to 90 euros by the Oiseau Club Gardois.

Throughout the day, activities are organized at the Animox lounge, including training demonstrations. Between strolls in the alleys among plants, fossils, minerals and other local products, visitors can finally attend the International Purebred Cat Festival. this prestigious competition where the most beautiful Maine Coons, Siamese and Ragdolls try to seduce a jury that is among the most demanding.
