At 75, King Charles III will undergo prostate surgery this Friday, January 26. A common pathology for a man of his age, but which, without treatment, can lead to deterioration of the bladder as recalled 20 minutes.

"Lthe prostate is large, but does not bother"

A simple "corrective procedure" according to Buckingham Palace but which caused a very strong increase searches about this condition on the Internet in recent days: more than 247% in the United Kingdom and more than 217% worldwide. "You can live very well with a large prostate", reassures Professor François Desgrandchamps, Parisian urologist at the microphone of 20 minutes. 

"50 % of men aged 50 have a prostate that is too large, 70 % of those over 70, etc . And it’s not a disease to have a large prostate, it’s just a sign of aging. In the vast majority of cases, the prostate is large, but does not bother, indicates the latter.

No risk for the king

If prostate hypertrophy is not a serious illness, and nine times out of ten, medications are enough to cure patients, King Charles III will still have to pass on the operating table. "There is no risk, it is benign, causes very little bleeding and only requires a short hospitalization of two days", reassures urologist François Desgrandchamps.

S majesty will however no longer be able to have descendants. "If the prostate is enlarged, the sperm goes directly into the bladder. So after the intervention, he will no longer come out during orgasm. But orgasms and erections are preserved", announces the professor who recalls that before Charles III, President François Hollande had already suffered this type of ;#39;operation.
