Clermont-l'Hérault: the Minister of Transport authorizes the route of a half-interchange at the northern entrance to the city

Vieux de trois décennies, le projet de demi échangeur nord à Clermont vient d'être validé par le ministre des transports, Patrice Vergriete.

In Clermontais, the day will be marked with a white stone. After more than 30 years of discussions and studies, the old sea serpent of a northern half-interchange project in Clermont-l'Hérault finally opens the way to a major breakthrough on the file. "The Minister of Transport signed the letter authorizing the construction of the A75 northern entrance to Clermont l’Hérault", we rejoice at the town hall.

Less than a month after a visit by the prefect of Hérault, François-Xavier Lauch, during which the subject was widely discussed with Gérard Bessière, mayor of the city, (Midi Libvre of 15 February), the news broke this Friday.

A recent prefectural visit

"This project is three decades old. We got there thanks to a general mobilization, elected officials, economic partners (including the Oval Table), consular chambers… And, if the situation has been resolved, I think that we owes it also to the prefect", greets the first magistrate of the City. A mayor who did not hesitate, in 2022, to ask, on the subject, a certain Jean Castex, then prime minister.

A first victory

Two years later, this new route, supported by the mayor, is therefore authorized in the highest place. "It's a first victory, a victory for Clermont, but also for the territory", appreciates Gérard Bessière. Because the new infrastructure, imagined in the L'estagnol sector , should relieve several municipalities:   Saint-Felix, Ceyras, Saint-André… d'significant road traffic.

After this "excellent news", it is now urgent to make a "round table of financing partners to carry out the operation."
