La première édition des cuvées "Salagou Coeur d'Hérault" affiche son ambition de primer les crus du territoire, de conjuguer dégustation et déambulation, culture… et viticulture.

There will be a jury, award-winning vintages, tastings, trophies, a prize list…but it's not a classic wine competition. This Tuesday, the Com Com du Clermontais detailed the outlines of the first edition of its Palmarès des cuvées "Salagou Coeur d'Hérault". An event which will be held on Tuesday April 2* at the Château de Malmont, in Villeneuvette. Explanations. "In 2020, I was elected president of Com Com, with my team and an ambition: to highlight our magnificent territory. I had the idea of creating this initiative with the desire to raise awareness of particular wines from our territory. And to associate with viticulture, heritage and culture. This is part of our DNA in the territory", presents Claude Revel, president of the Com Com.

"The objective is to sell wine"

With the firm intention of supporting a wine industry weighed down by a complicated economic situation and climate change, this panorama of Clermontais wines therefore displays its ambition of &quot ;to bring out a challenge that we will export to the national and international level. The objective is not to win a medal or a trophy, but to sell wine. It is important for us, through our economic development sector, to provide this support to viticulture which is part of our landscapes", formulates Claude Revel.& nbsp;

An alignment of the planets

Especially since the approach should benefit from a beautiful alignment of the planets with the labeling of the Grand Site &amp ;quot;Salagou-Mourèze-Pic de Vissou" . A terroir-landscape blend "which will participate in the brand image of our territory", savors the chosen one. Concretely, around thirty estates and 103 vintages are already in the running for the Palmarès. The lucky winners (15 winners) will be highlighted by Comcom, in particular via its Tourist Office, but also to some 300 chefs of the Alain Ducasse network through Annett Tech. Because the chef of Restaurant BK, in Montagnac, is godmother* of the Palmarès and, therefore, ambassador of Clermontaise vintages.

The voice of Bernard Bardou

Consultant sommelier, known, in particular, for his participation in the Vall'Hérault wine competition, Bernard Bardou is there for this first Palmar& ;egraves of Clermontaise vintages. "This initiative (Clermontaise) is different from traditional competitions. There, it is the first time that all wines, whatever their production family, are represented. We are lucky to be in a territory where we have ten appellations or denominations, AOP and IGP, and, in addition, we have Wines of France. For the first time, we are going to integrate them. What we want above all is to highlight the nuggets of the territory, in all families…" As a corollary of this approach, the vintages will be tasted and evaluated, also, by price range."And we didn't put up any barriers. We accept all vintages, all types of vinification, all types of wines . feel a panorama as wide as that of Salagou….

A stroll through food and wine pairings

"This project is innovative because it is also associated with a gourmet stroll. All the ingredients are there. And it's just the first edition, it will take on another dimension with time", anticipates Olivier Brun, vice-president of the CCC responsible for economic development. Indeed, on June 22, the award-winning vintages will be presented during this gourmet stroll organized on the banks of Salagou, and as far as Liausson. The tasting will be associated with a menu, signed Annett Teich. A menu spread over four stands offering tasty food and wine pairings. In the evening, the seven-kilometre walk, in which Noëlle Bardou, specialist in wine tourism, is taking part, will conclude in tavern style, open to all.

On April 2, during the deliberations, a round table, open to winegrowers, will be held on the theme of the reintroduction of ancient grape varieties and the vineyard against global warming.

Godfather: alongside Annette Teich, godmother of this first edition, Pierre Vila Palleja, finalist in the competition for the best sommelier of France 2022, will be godfather of the event.
