This is the body of Carlos Daniel Hernandez, who was carrying out road repair work on the Francis Scott Key Bridge when he was hit by the Singaporean container ship Dali, said on the social network Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Barcena.
Trapped in a construction vehicle
Three other workers were found dead shortly after the accident, and two are still missing and considered deceased. Two had been rescued.
American rescuers specified in a press release that this fourth victim had been found "trapped in a construction vehicle" . Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott expressed his compassion on X : "As since the first moment of this unthinkable tragedy, our hearts are in mourning these families".
The ship that hit the bridge is still immobilized on site, under debris, blocking part of maritime transport in one of the busiest ports in the country.
A temporary navigation corridor was opened to allow the passage of ships carrying out rescue and clearance operations. The American Federal Police (FBI) have opened an investigation into the accident.
