The region in force at “César” video games

#ECONOMY.The Pegasus ceremony, the equivalent of the Césars for video games, will reward the best productions of the year this Thursday evening in Paris. In 2023, the big winner was the independent Montpellier studio Blue Twelve, crowned best game of the year for “Stray”, an adventure which allows the player to slip into the shoes of a stray cat. A success such as the cat will soon be adapted into a feature film.

For this 2024 edition, the Toulouse studio Rundisc hopes to follow the same path with its fascinating universe “Chants of Sennar”, nominated in five categories including that of best game. ;is Ubisoft Bordeaux with the 13th opus of the saga” Assassin’s Creed”. Ubisoft Montpellier is favorite for the Pégases for best mobile video game and narrative excellence with “Unknown Soldiers: Brothers in Arms”.

Finally, confirming the excellence of the Montpellier ecosystem, the Fireplace Games studio could leave as the best first video game with “En Garde!”, a cape adventure and d’epee considered the sensation of 2023 among independents.

Who set the town hall on fire ?

#GARD.An investigation is open after the attempted fire which targeted the town hall of Pont-Saint-Esprit on Tuesday March 5 in the early evening. The mayor, Claire Lapeyronie, sounded the alarm shortly before 7 p.m., when returning to work. The rapid arrival of help prevented the fire from spreading.

During the night, another site in the city was targeted: the municipal technical center where a dump truck and a truck with a basket were vandalized. The mayor "hopes that there is no link between these facts and the context of the electoral campaign"&amp ;nbsp;while early elections will be organized soon.

A Heroic Postman

#LOZERE. Every year, La Poste honors postal workers who have performed an act of bravery. For 2023, there were 33 in France, including only one in Occitanie. This is Thomas Espinasse, postman in Marvejols.
On April 15, 2023, to deliver a package, he went to Mina and Azzouz El Hatri.  When he arrives, Azzouz is choking and his wife goes out to get help. The postman does not hesitate for a second, he enters the home and performs the Heimlich method which allows the victim to spit out the stuck food. Without any particular training, he just repeated gestures "seen on television"… and which therefore made it possible to save the fifty-year-old.

Free periodic protection at Bleu Libellule

#GARD. The Gard company Bleu Libellule, which has conquered the international market with its hairdressing and aesthetic products, is still innovating. As International Women's Day looms this Friday, the CSP group has decided to install nearly 200 self-service periodic protection dispensers (tampons and napkins) for all its employees.

A way to remove "this mental and financial burden" by providing free access to these premium products first necessity. Since this was implemented, nearly 35,000 protections have been distributed. 977 employees are affected. 

A lawyer indicted for "intentional homicide"

#JUSTICE. According to Le Parisien, a Parisian lawyer was indicted for "voluntary homicide" by an investigating judge in Nîmes this Wednesday, March 6. She was placed under judicial supervision. With her brother, already indicted for murder and imprisoned, she is suspected of having killed a man whose body was found in November in Lozère. The victim would be a family member with a disability. According to the autopsy, the victim died of respiratory distress with "inhalation of digestive contents". The criminal trail was quickly favored due to several hematomas and fractures on the victim's face and head.

#NIMES. The Nîmes Fair which was held from February 23 to 26 at the exhibition center was a great success . With a record number of exhibitors on site, the bar of 250 stands having been exceeded. "31,767 visitors were recorded over the four days, i.e. + 11.41% compared to last year and + 10.65% compared to 2019" , is satisfied with Pascal Settipani, organizer of the event. An appointment has already been made for 2025!
