Every year, the City of Mende and the tourist office distribute a practical guide to announce the summer events in the area.

The countdown has begun! Only two days left before the start of summer and the music festival, Friday June 21, 2024. Every year, the City of Mende's summer guide is published and brings together all the summer events in the prefectural city. It will be available at the end of the month, will be distributed in the mailboxes of the Mendois and printed in 12,000 copies.

For the occasion, Laurent Suau mayor of Mende, Cyril Duclot director of the Cœur de Lozère tourist office, and Betty Zampiello in charge of youth and city events, announced the many festivities of the ;rsquo;summer, Monday June 17.

New things for this year

The program is busy. "An exceptional summer is brewing in Mende !,  rejoices Laurent Suau, mayor of Mende. It starts this Friday with the music festival and continues on Saturday with the Worakls concert." Festivals, sports, exhibitions& hellip; All outings to keep you busy during the summer holidays are suggested by the guide.

While the people of Mende, Lozère and tourists can still count on the usual events such as the 48th Street Festival from July 5 to 7, the Marvejols-Mende half-marathon on July 21, the return of Mende-Plage and the farmhouse guinguettes, new activities have been added to the programme. “Not to be missed”: the temporary exhibition of around forty works at the Gévaudan Museum”, underlines Laurent Suau. It can be seen from July 23. It brings together, among others, works by artists such as Rodin, Delacroix and Laurencin.

The year 2024 also marks the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Mende. “Meetings will be held to recall the massacres that took place at the time and to remember resistance fighters such as Henri Bourrillon, explains the mayor of Mende. We have to remember where we come from."

"For the pleasure of young and old"

The Mende Coeur de Lozère tourist office also offers numerous activities to visit and discover the cultural heritage of the department. This year, the team is working hard: "We decided to increase the number of visits and set the bar quite high, supports Cyril Duclot. One every two days."

Among their many usual offerings, we can find visits to the 48 brewery, the ’explor game, and Mondays at the cathedral. But a new weekly activity is being added this summer: Thursdays at the farm.

A summer program loaded with events "for the pleasure of young and old !"
