Demolitions in sight in the Prés Saint-Jean district, in Alès: when and which buildings are affected ?

Change is particularly expected in rue Sully-Prudhomme, renowned for being a deal point in the capital of the Cévennes.

The New National Urban Renewal Program (NPNRU) which is currently taking shape in Alès, in the Gard, provides, in the Prés Saint-Jean district, from this fall, for the completion of 5  400 m2 of buildings with an economic vocation (i.e. which will be occupied by companies) on the square adjoining France Travail, formerly Pôle emploi.

A breakthrough in the building bar

Above all, rue Sully-Prudhomme is in the line of fire. Sadly renowned for being a hotspot for drug trafficking in the capital of the Cévennes, this artery will experience some demolitions, "in September or October", specifies Max Roustan, the mayor of Alès. Indeed, the tower located in its center will be demolished, before the space is redeveloped. And part of the block of buildings facing it will be razed, which will allow the creation of a gap "towards the allotment gardens and towards the new climbing room", built in the old church on rue Marcel-Paul.
