Despite their defeat in Béziers, the activists of the New Popular Front congratulate themselves on their national victory

Victorious nationally and losers locally, the New Popular Front finished third (23.55%) in the triangular against Julien Gabarron (RN, 47.26%) and Emmanuelle Ménard, (DVD, 29 .19%). Gathered at their premises at 2 rue Ampère, in Béziers, the NFP activists were nonetheless relieved and happy at the announcement of the national results.

"We won, we won", the supporters of the New Popular Front (NFP) chanted and applauded at their premises, 2 rue Ampère, in Béziers, this Sunday, July 7. Despite a crushing defeat at the local level, against Julien Gabarron (RN) and Emmanuelle Ménard (DVD), NFP activists expressed their relief and joy in view of the national results.

And ignored the local results: "We are delighted, it feels really good to win. All the activists led a great field campaign. Many people who were not interested in politics challenged us", rejoices Isabelle, an activist. She nevertheless remains doubtful:"I hope that nationally, the NFP will respect its program, otherwise no one will believe them anymore. There is always the risk that Macron will request a new dissolution in a year".

A wonderful campaign

À Béziers,"we are very happy with the result. It was a great campaign. Our score of 23.55 % represents  14,000 votes, or 3,000 votes difference with those of Emmanuelle Ménard. We convinced a lot of voters, it remains very positive… hellip; We have, all of us united, raised the left in Biterrois,” rejoices Magali Crozier. "We will nevertheless continue to fight with our group, against the projects of the RN and Ménard which do not suit us. Among our next struggles, we will oppose the new administrative detention center ".

Trying to explain the reasons for the RN vote, she confides: "Not all s people are racist , they are especially afraid of the poor and want to keep them away. Many consider that there are too many assistantships in society and hope that the RN will eliminate all of this. However, they will do nothing about it".

"Now, everything remains to be done, we must not scatter and return quietly to our slippers but organize ourselves. Whatever the results, we have already won a victory in this electoral fight. We have strengthened ourselves and formed a force around a common project in Biterrois", explained Magali Crozier, in her speech. Ready to run for the next municipal elections, she concludes: "What will be essential, well before the municipal elections, is to continue to go on the field to go see and see people again, listen to and note their needs, answer their questions and convince them that they are actors in their lives".
