The A9 motorway will be closed in both directions of traffic from 6:30 a.m. between the Sigean and Orange interchanges. The A9 will therefore be completely closed in its Hérault part and its Gard part. Farmers denounce in particular the precariousness of their profession, the soaring costs and an inflation of community environmental standards.
Gathering in Montpellier
All convoys will converge on Montpellier, where a picnic is planned at midday, lasting until 3 p.m. at Place du Marché-aux-Fleurs, at the foot of the prefecture. In Montpellier, the procession will arrive via Tournezy, Prés-d'Arènes roundabout, Avenue de la Liberté, Boulevard des Arceaux. Huge disruptions are expected on the Occitanie road network. Prime Minister Gabriel Attal must go this Friday afternoon to Haute-Garonne, in the region where the movement began, to speak to farmers, accompanied by his Minister of Agriculture Marc Fesneau, according to TF1 info. The Prime Minister will announce "simplification measures" in favor of farmers, the government said on Thursday, while the farmers' demand movement continues to expand in France with “a level of expectation that is really very very strong".
