“All students will do the same program”: in Nîmes, the rector presented her new roadmap for the start of the 2024 school year

Sophie Béjean, rector of the Montpellier academy, met with elected officials from Gard, this Monday, January 29, to present the future directions for the next school year in September. We take stock.

The rector of the Occitanie academic region and the Montpellier academy made her traditional trip at the start of the year in order to present the directions and means deployed to back to school  2024.

This Monday, January 29, it was in the premises of the Departmental Services Department of National Education that Sophie Béjean met the Gard elected officials.

New directions to come…

"The school is the mother of the battles of Mr. Attal's new government." With the launch of a new project for the Montpellier academy which is long-term, Sophie Béjean began by setting out the future directions for the 2024 school year. " This new 2024-2027 academy project is divided into four axes which have a lot of meaning for our territory. The objective ? "Success for all!"

Among the four orientations presented, the first is based around   "shared values", both those of the Republic and  inclusion and & #39;support for students. "Our second axis focuses on the success of our students and the acquisition of fundamental knowledge", then specified the woman who is also chancellor of universities.

Partnerships (with local authorities, the various State services, sports, cultural, etc.) and the well-being of the academy staff constitute the last two central points of this project exhibited last Monday January 22 at the Corum in Montpellier. "This new academic momentum responds to the pedagogical and educational priorities of the new ministry."

… and increasing teaching resources

Montpellier is among the five best-endowed metropolitan academies, both in the first level (nursery and elementary schools) and in the second (middle and high schools). "Despite an expected reduction in enrollment in Gard (drop of around 1,370, or 0.6% of the school population, Editor's note) the first level will benefit from an addition  10 jobs and better supervision of students,” detailed Isabelle Chazal, general secretary of the Montpellier academy.

With the addition of one hundred full-time equivalents (FTE) at the start of the 2024 school year, secondary education resources are also increasing in order to meet the needs of students. support the increase in demographics and the development of the professional training offer. "This will in particular help us to set up level groups for middle school with reduced numbers for French and mathematics. All students will do the same program regardless of their level group,” she concluded, confidently.
