Early legislative elections: Pierre Jaumain (PS) ready to run for the 1st constituency of Gard

Le premier secrétaire du PS du Gard est prêt à "mener le combat" face au RN.

"Je serai très probablement candidat sur la 1re circonscription. Il faut qu'on mène tous les combats, surtout les plus difficiles." Pierre Jaumain, first federal member of the PS du Gard, announced this Monday on Midi Libre his wish to be a candidate in the 1st constituency of Gard (Beaucaire-Nîmes). A decision which will have to be confirmed by the national authorities of the party.

The boss of the departmental PS knows the area well, since he grew up in Beaucaire. The constituency is currently held by RN Yoann Gillet, who defeated Françoise Dumas, candidate for the presidential majority in 2022, in the second round.

"Yoann Gillet is a parliamentarian aligned with his party's strategy: designate scapegoats and vote against all social progress", denounces Pierre Jaumain. He notes in passing that the decision of the RN mayor of Beaucaire Julien Sanchez, to leave his mayoral sash for a seat as a European deputy (he was elected on the list of Jordan Bardella) “is a form of betrayal of its Beaucairois electorate.

At the departmental level "the Socialist Party will wish to be leader in many constituencies, but decisions will be made at the national level". The PS national council takes place this Tuesday. Pierre Jaumain intends to take advantage of the dynamic created by the list led by Raphaël Glucksmann in the European elections (13.83% nationally and 12.20% in Gard).
