Energy check: associations warn of a “hiccup”, the establishment of a complaints counter already announced

The Minister of the Economy affirmed this Monday, February 5 on France 5 the establishment of a complaints desk in response to a press release from several associations which were concerned that ;one million beneficiaries cannot receive the energy check.

Will the energy check be paid to each of its beneficiaries in 2024 ? "This check will be sent automatically by mail to the 20% of the lowest-income households, whose reference tax income per consumption unit is less than 11,000 euros in 2021" , can we read on the government website.

But this year, an administrative problem could deprive a million beneficiaries of the precious sesame, the associations worry.

"The gradual disappearance of the housing tax, announced 4 years ago, is the cause of the impasse in which the tax services find themselves in identifying the occupants of the same household and calculate the number of consumption units (with a ceiling of 11,000 euros per consumption unit), they warned this Monday.

"I want to tell all the associations that I have heard their concerns,” reassured the Minister of the Economy. "We will remedy this situation: there will be a complaints system", he announced.

Thus, a complaints counter will be set up "so that any person who should have been eligible who has not received their energy check at the end of the sending campaign (around mid-May) can request an energy check.

This dysfunction will only concern new beneficiaries of this aid. "In any case, the French who benefited from the energy check in 2023 will also benefit from the energy check in 2024", recalls the Ministry of the Economy.

"To find out if they are eligible, the French can use the automatic simulator on the site chequeenergie.gouv.fr.", adds Bercy.< /p>

The energy checks will be paid at the beginning of April, specified Bruno Le Maire.
