European Table Tennis Championships: Alexis and Félix Lebrun will be there, as will Simon Gauzy

Félix Lebrun, médaillé de bronze en simple aux JO, son frère Alexis et Simon Gauzy, avec lesquels il a également décroché le bronze par équipe, font partie de la sélection française qui disputera les championnats d’Europe individuels du 15 au 20 octobre.

In addition to Félix (5th in the world), Alexis (19th) and Gauzy (32nd), three other table tennis players have been selected, Jules Rolland (72nd), Thibault Poret (75th) and Lilian Bardet (102nd), the French Table Tennis Federation indicated in a press release.

These individual European Championships will take place in Linz, Austria, two and a half months after a historic Olympic edition for French table tennis, with two medals won, making four with the silver won in singles by Jean-Philippe Gatien in Barcelona in 1992 and the bronze in doubles won by the same Gatien with Patrick Chila in Sydney in 2000.

Félix Lebrun among the favorites

The best-ranked European player in the world rankings, Félix Lebrun will be one of the two big favorites for the event, along with Sweden's Truls Moregard (11th) who won two silver medals in Paris, in singles and team.

In the women's competition, the French players in the running will be Prithika Pavade (19th), Jia Nan Yuan (20th), respectively No. 4 and No. 5 in Europe and therefore candidates for a podium, as well as Charlotte Lutz (85th), Audrey Zarif (108th), Camille Lutz (137th) and Léana Hochart (205th).

During previous championships of Europe in 2022, the best performances were achieved by Alexis Lebrun, who rose to 8th, and Jia Nan Yuan, who reached the quarter-finals.
