Cyclist champion Peter Sagan, who is aiming to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics in mountain biking after retiring from road racing, underwent a heart procedure this Friday, February 24 to treat an arrhythmia, AFP learned from of one of its representatives.

The 34-year-old Slovakian, a former three-time road world champion and seven-time winner of the green jersey at the Tour de France, was treated at a hospital in Ancona, Italy.

"Peter is fine. He will be back on the bike in more or less a week with the same program as initially planned. Everything is under control", this spokesperson told AFP.

The superstar aims for the next Olympics
