Faced with the risk of fire near the Mediterranean, firefighters from Aveyron are mobilized in Hérault

After an initial intervention on Sunday 18 August, a new Aveyron-Lozère mixed forest fire prevention column is once again being mobilised on Sunday 25 August to lend a hand in Hérault.

At the request of the Southern Zone Operations Center based in Marseille and given the particularly high risk of forest fires this weekend on the shores of the Mediterranean, a column of 12 mixed firefighter vehicles from Aveyron and Lozère is mobilized for 48 hours in Hérault.

Intervention for 48 hours

This intervention follows that of last week, on Sunday August 18, when this same column was requested and acted quickly since a fire had broken out and ravaged the Gardiole massif. More than 356 hectares had gone up in smoke.

This time, two Aveyron vehicles are part of the operation. They will be distributed with their Lozère colleagues between La Canourgue and Gignac. Their intervention is limited to 48 hours.
