Confessions. On the night of November 19 to 20, two men died in a fire in Céret, near Perpignan in the Pyrénées-Orientales. The gendarmes of the department's group and the Montpellier research section finally concluded that the fire was criminal in origin, reports Le Parisien .

"An impulse"

The accidental trail was ruled out after video surveillance images showed a man leaving the scene very quickly after the appearance of smoke, and this in a suspicious manner. Although it took hard work on the part of investigators, they were finally able to identify the individual.

He is a 20-year-old man, already known to the police for a traffic offense, according to Jean-David Cavaillé, public prosecutor of Perpignan. The latter was arrested this morning in the city by the gendarmes.

While in police custody, the suspect confessed to being behind the fire. Regarding his motivations, he explained that he "had an impulse" and therefore committed the disaster. As a result, the man was indicted for "willful destruction by dangerous means resulting in death", and faces a sentence of life imprisonment, explains the daily.
