Le Festival International des Sports Extrêmes ouvre ses portes au public ce mercredi jusqu’à dimanche à Montpellier.

Des disciplines olympiques à 80 jours de Paris 2024

Like every year, the event is the scene of world events in various disciplines such as parkour, roller skating or even a scooter World Cup for the first time in Fise. The best athletes in these urban sports come to compete on the Montpellier modules. But what everyone is waiting for, even more so in 2024 a few weeks before the Paris Games, is to see at work the sportsmen and women who will represent France in the capital from the 27th. nbsp;July. In Montpellier for five days, the French stage of the BMX Freestyle Park World Cup will see the Blues led by Hérault resident Anthony Jeanjean attempt to get on the podium. Skateboarding and breakdancing, which will appear on the Olympic program this summer, will also be in the spotlight. And new to the festival, 3×3 basketball on a court installed in front of the Town Hall. On a sporting level, Saturday is unmissable with breathtaking finals throughout the afternoon, starting with the BMX Freestyle Park from 3:10 p.m.

An animated village

All around the sports infrastructures, a village of stands of all kinds is set up on the banks of the Lez. With family or friends, it is possible to enjoy the activities and exhibitors. There is something for everyone: urban sports brands in the Street Zone, food corners and places to sit in the Chill Zone but also a tattooist and therapists in the Shred Zone . Without forgetting some curiosities to discover in the Family Park Zone.

A space for initiations

Fise Montpellier is not just about champions to admire. It is also an opportunity for those who wish, young and old, to try out the emblematic disciplines of the festival for free, supervised by professionals from the Fise Academy and the Attitude Montpellier BMX club. The sports offered are skateboarding, scootering and BMX. Equipment and protections are made available on site. The initiation area, on the right bank of the Lez, will be open from Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., for 30-minute slots in groups of 8 to 10 people.

Wild evenings

These are always awaited meetings, moments out of time. On the Spine ramp installed on the square in front of the Town Hall, night competitions will close the days of Friday and Saturday, in front of a delirious crowd and an exceptional atmosphere. Freestyle scootering will be in the spotlight on the first evening (9:30 p.m.) before giving way the next day to roller skating (7 p.m.) and freestyle BMX (9:15 p.m.). For the most party-loving festival-goers, the Austra Rocks and O’Sullivan bars organize 100% Fise themed evenings from Wednesday to Sunday. Hoping that the nights around the Montpellier event do not give rise to scenes of violence and degradation as seen in recent years in the streets of the city.
