Fishing: watch out for lines on lines

La fédération de pêche de l’Hérault, Enedis et RTE signent un partenariat pour sensibiliser les pêcheurs aux risques de la pratique à proximité des lignes électriques. Une application est mise en place, la vigilance reste de mise.

Between the opening of the fishing season and a few days before the pike season, this Monday, in Octon, the Hérault Fishing Federation, Enedis and RTE signed an agreement in order to distill some good advice, carrying a common slogan: “Tension, attention”. Because when operating the rod, the fishing line can, in certain cases, cause an electric arc with potentially serious consequences.

A useful application

"We really need to raise awareness among the average sinner who is not necessarily aware of the risks and, in particular, children", insists Jean-Jacques Daumas, president of the Héraultaise federation. "We have a large distribution network with high voltage lines. And there are still low voltage lines, bare wire, even if we have a program to eradicate these old lines, explains Thierry Capo territorial director of Enedis in Hérault. ;nbsp;An application, “Alert line”, "allows you to give the alert when you are near the network, i.e. is an approach common to RTE and Enedis and we are implementing marking operations to improve security. We will work with the fishermen who will tell us where they wish to install panels", list Thierry Capo.

No alternative in the event of an accident

"This partnership concretizes our desire to ensure prevention of electrical risks around our works, whether for leisure, for professionals, for gliding and others. We are on high tension structures which leave no alternative in the event of an accident. We are delighted to be able to extend this partnership to a third department here in Hérault. Prevention is the first tool to avoid accidents, concludes Serge Audouard of RTE.
