Football: a mixed start to the school year for the Thau Five club

Diminués, les Frontignanais de l’Asfac ont fait mieux que résister. MIDI LIBRE – E.R.

Deux victoires, un nul et deux défaites ont marqué cette journée inaugurale, ces 7 et 8 septembre.

The first at the Muscatiers' home offered them a confrontation against the Grenats of Saint-Clément-Montferrier, who had to react after a failed outing in the Cup.

Asfac did better than resist. The group, although greatly weakened by notable absences, only lost due to a stroke of fate. A harmless ball, poorly negotiated, hitting a teammate, resulted in an undeserved defeat. The Muscatiers had the opportunities in a tight and alert match for the start of the championship, it is both infuriating and encouraging. It is as paradoxical as it is comforting in the current context.

A point is good

In Lattes, the Sète team took a point but they will have to be reckoned with. For the coach, it is a point all the same: « We have the chances and the possession. It is true that victory, with more realism, was possible but we are away and this championship is difficult». As is often the case, Thomas Pron brought the Sète team back to level. A penalty from Lutfu Unal, at the end of the match, allowed them to keep it.

Mèze controls

The R3 derby, between Mézois and Frontignanais, went to the locals. Facing a young team that was being punctured by the first team, Éric Miramond's men did not fail.

The coach was delighted with this start: « We did the job in the first half. We were solid at the back, we could have made the score worse. It's an encouraging start». Veteran Grynberg and Chakloute ensured a first success for the “Blue and Black” striped team.

For its part, the Frontignan reserve team still needs to improve even if it showed quality in its play. For coach Florent Pascal, « the lack of maturity in a fairly tight match made the boys nervous. We pay cash for the defeat but They are here to learn”.

Balaruc sets the tone

Finally, the FCAA (N3) reserves certainly did not expect such a reception in the Spa City. Solid and enterprising, the Catalan team tasted the Balarucois response. Despite a packed infirmary, a post on a 40-meter shot from Lima, the "Green and Black" offered a convincing victory, which sets the tone, thanks to a goal from Loan Jodar.
