Football: for the Crocodilets, the National U19s will wait…
|L'attaquant Wesley Mundigayi avait bien débuté. Mais la cuisse du Nîmois n'aura pas tenu. MIDI LIBRE
Sunday May 26, the U 18s of Nîmes Olympique were beaten by Castelnau – Crès (2-1), in Hérault, on the last day of Regional 1 and in a match that had to be won. The Gardois remain at the dock.
Coach Mickaël Gas sits for a long time, stunned, staring into space. At his side, Philippe, his father, standing hands on hips, is just as incredulous. The crocodile staff is groggy. A few meters away, Sofian Attaba throws his jersey in rage while some of his teammates remain lying down. The attitudes of the Nîmes speak for themselves after the 2nd defeat of the season in R1, one too many, and still against Castelnau – Le Crès (2-1). ''I'm defeated, grumbled Mickaël Gas.We're having a great season but I don't care about having a great season, I wanted to get to the end.''
Because they lost the match that absolutely had to be won, the U 18s of Nîmes Olympique saw the road to the dam, on June 8 in Saint-Gaudens against in Colomiers, pass under their noses. At the same time as a possible accession to U 19 Nationals.
Two errors, two goals conceded
Like Captain Lamssalak, whose penalty to reduce the score (2-1, 77th) was not enough to mask the overall sufficiency, the Nîmes did not do enough against Castelnauviens who were superior in a lot of areas and who made very good group champions; 17 victories – 1 defeat (on penalty).
In this meeting, two restart errors precipitated the fall of NO. On the first, defender Rollet Parison sees his pass intercepted and, a few seconds later, notices that Kalczynski is indeed a ‘’serial scorer’’, 30th achievement of the ’ exercise (1-0, 45th + 1). Just after the restart, it was midfielder Dugaret who made the mistake and Héraultais Sarvisse who punished (2-0, 50th).
Mickaël Gas, coach: ''I am very proud of my players''
This was too much for the Nîmes already deprived of defender Lapierre and midfielder Ayachi, injured, and who lost striker Mudingayi too quickly, after 20’ (thigh). ''I am very proud of my players and I hope that they can continue either at the club or at another club and do great things too'' ;#39;, concludes the coach.
