Football: the Nîmes U14-U15 vice-champions of Occitanie, a nice coup...

The Nîmes U14-U15 also won the Toulouges and Saint-Mitre-les-Remparts tournaments this season. FREE NOON – E. DZ.

The girls of FFNMG (Women's Football Nîmes Métropole Gard), who set off into the unknown in Elite, finished vice-champions of Occitanie U15. Thanks to hard work, talent and a dedicated coach. But not thanks to their training conditions…

Before, in U13, they beat the boys' teams from Gard, taking the first places in D3. Now, they beat the girls' teams from Occitanie, apart from Montpellier Hérault (*). The U14-U15 of the FFNMG (Nîmes Métropole Gard women's football) were crowned vice-champions of the greater Region after a final epic match in Montauban (2-2).

There were 42 clubs at the start from 13 departments… including only one from Gard, moreover. And he finished 2nd behind the MHSC, untouchable and undefeated, twice victorious 3-1 over Nîmoises.

An average score of 5-1

Their record in the championship: 13 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses, against whom we know… 83 goals scored and 18 conceded, an average score per match of 5-1! “The objective was to qualify for the Elite phase, among the best 12, confides coach Grégory Joly. Then, a top 5 would have satisfied us. But appetite comes with eating, and we were able to go and get this 2nd place. It's a real surprise, a small miracle even, because we were going into the unknown in 11-a-side football, and when you see the deplorable conditions in which we spent the season…

Training field in a pitiful state (the Costières annex), unsanitary locker room, no place to live, no stadium to play at home (they hosted their opponents on 5 different grounds! ), travel in private cars (Ariège, Haute-Garonne)… "girls deserve better, they who are often more attentive than boys. What makes their strength ? Their state of mind, their seriousness and their involvement! appreciates the coach. This is what allowed them to progress tactically, technically and physically, even if the progress would have been even greater if we had been able to work better.

A group that does not live well, but exceptionally well

There is a super dedicated coach, too, who was able to build up a competent staff with Ahmed, Lauric, Sanera and the physical trainer Nicolas Maisonny "who did a great job", thanks Joly. Add in Captain Victoria's speeches, and you have a group that lives not well, but exceptionally well.

"We are very close, assures Vic. We are a united team, that’s why we have always been able to get back up this season. We can all be proud of ourselves."

Better conditions to get the MHSC ?

And the rest promises: the squad being made up of 12 U14s and 6 U15s, we will have to count on the Gladiatrice again in U15 Elite next season. Led by a Benyebka (Espoirs center of Castelmaurou), an Abbate (called to the Occitanie selection) or a radiant Audiger who knows how to do everything in the middle, and all the others; Nîmes can do another Joly coup. And, with better training conditions (at the town hall to play, there…), go and get the MHSC. Chick ?
