Football: Valencia player arrested and taken into custody for sexual assault

The events allegedly took place at the home of footballer Rafa Mir.

The footballer of the Spanish first division club Valencia Rafa Mir has been arrested and taken into custody for sexual assault, the Civil Guard announced on Tuesday, which did not provide details. “The club is aware of this detention and, in the absence of details on the case, can only assure that it will cooperate with justice as best it can", the Liga team reacted in a statement.

A complaint filed by two people

Rafa Mir's arrest took place, according to several Spanish media outlets, on Monday evening, following a complaint filed against the player and another person by two women for sexual assault.

The events allegedly took place at the 27-year-old player's home, the media report. In July, Valencia announced the return of Rafa Mir, transferred on loan with an option to buy by Sevilla FC, which he had joined in 2021 for six seasons.
