Football: “Welcome, Professor”, Nicolas Anelka appointed director of a Turkish second division club

L'ex-attaquant de l'équipe de France Nicolas Anelka a été nommé jeudi à la tête du modeste club turc de deuxième division Ümraniyespor, a annoncé l'équipe stambouliote.

"Bienvenue, Professor", the club wrote in French on the social network with the Frenchman "for the position of CEO".

The objective of getting back into the elite

The former international (69 caps, 14 goals), notably with PSG, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea, played in the Turkish championship in 2005-2006, under the colors of Fenerbahçe.

The Frenchman also had a brief managerial experience at Hyères (French National 2, the equivalent of the 4th division) in 2021.

The former Blue had announced that he was leaving his position barely three months after being appointed to the position of sports director of the Var club.

Ümraniyespor, currently 12th in the Turkish second division championship, played in the elite last season for the first time in its history.
