On Saturday June 1, our newspaper kicks off a series of meetings around the 80th anniversary of the Liberation and Midi Libre, born August 27, 1944. A program punctuated by the story of numerous witnesses of this period.

A conference, a magazine, podcasts, an exhibition… Around the commemorations linked to the eightieth anniversary of the Liberation, Midi Libre, which also celebrates its 80th anniversary on August 27, will give the floor to citizens, historians, teachers… An opportunity to respond to the duty of memory that is more necessary than ever.

Reception at 9 a.m.
Round table at 9:30 a.m.– They experienced the Liberation. Charly Samson, Colette Russo and Jean-Claude Martin will tell and discuss with the audience.
Round table at 10:30 a.m. – How to keep the duty of memory alive ? They will debate it: Richard Vassakos (professor of contemporary history at the Paul Valéry University of Montpellier), Jean-Paul Boré (president of the Association of Friends of the Foundation for the Memory of Deportation), Michaël Iancu (doctor of history, director of the Maimonides Institute), Michel Fratissier (associate of history, author of a thesis on Jean Moulin, issues and places of memory from 1945 to the present day).
Round table at 11:30 a.m.– Are the values ​​of yesterday threatened today? ? They will debate: Loris Chavanette (historian, author of “The Temptation of Despair”), Jad Zahab (essayist, author of “Refinding the Republic”), Jérôme Cordelier (journalist, author of “After the night: These Christians who rebuilt France and Europe”), Dominique Rousseau (professor of constitutional law, author of “Thinking, deciding, acting: Contestations”.
