François Durand ordained bishop of Valence: five buses of Lozériens made the trip

Sunday March 10, 2024 was not a day to consider long trips in the great South-East, given the weather. However, five buses left from the five large parishes of the diocese of Mende (Langogne, Saint-Chély, Florac, Marvejols and Mende) to reach Valence, capital of Drôme. For the believers, this day was festive, they were going to participate in the ordination mass of François Durand, becoming bishop of this diocese.

His journey

The man left his mark on Lozère for a long time. Now aged 51, he was ordained a priest in 2002 for the diocese of Mende, an orientation decided after an engineering degree in materials physics. In Mende, he is vicar in charge of the youth parish, after his year of study at the Catholic University of Lyon, he is episcopal vicar in charge of training and pastoral services. In 2010, until 2014, the Saint-Jacques parish of Saint-Chély-d’Apcher welcomed him as solidum priest. Doctor in theology in 2011, in 2012, he taught pastoral theology at the University of Lyon. From 2013 to 2018, he was vicar general of the diocese of Mende; in 2018-2019, diocesan administrator of Mende; from 2013 to 2024, episcopal delegate of the permanent diaconate; from 2017 to 2024, moderating priest of the Saint-Privat parish of Mende and from 2019 to 2024, vicar general of the diocese of Mende.

A flawless ascent journey celebrated as it should be during a ceremony at the Palais des sports in Valence, with members of his family, his friends, young believers and enthusiasts from all over Lozère.& nbsp;
