From Villeneuve remand center, he sends death messages to his former partner

Deux téléphones avaient été retrouvés dans la cellule du prévenu d’insultes adressées à son ancienne compagne.

This 26-year-old from Hérault, who is serving an 18-month prison sentence at the Villeneuve remand center for another case, has multiplied very threatening telephone messages against his former partner . He was sentenced to an additional eight months in prison.

"When I get out of here, the word hell is a little word". This message and others that are even more threatening, which speak of violent death, were written by Steven… from his cell in the Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone remand center. They were sent to his former partner who, tired and worried in anticipation of the person concerned's release, decided to file a complaint in March 2024.

Two phones in cell

During a search, two phones were found in the possession of this 26-year-old Hérault resident, imprisoned in another case of drug trafficking and domestic violence. In the dock, Steven admitted to the death threats, the determination to create new profiles on social networks in order to escape the blockages of his interlocutor but assures that he has evolved during his detention. “When they read them back to me, it was a shock. I couldn't stand prison. I became aware of things” he explains, referring to psychological monitoring.

Implicit pressure

In another message sent in March 2024, he asks his partner to drop her request to be equipped with an anti-rapprochement bracelet in anticipation of his release. An attempt at pressure? “I probably expressed myself badly” assures the defendant. An explanation that does not convince the prosecutor who sees it as the implicit expression of a new threat and requests an eight-month prison sentence with a committal warrant. “The demands are exaggerated. He has come a long way. At no time in 2024 does he say "be careful"" maintains Me Florent Larroque, Steven's lawyer.

His client was finally sentenced by the judicial court to eight months of detention, with a committal warrant, requested by the prosecution. A sentence that further pushes back his hopes of a more or less rapid arranged release.
