Gabriel Attal involved in a case of nepotism at National Education: a teacher favored by her deputy sister

In Grenoble, a middle school teacher would have benefited from the help of a Renaissance MP to be assigned to a second year class. This MP was, at the time of the events, substitute for Gabriel Attal at National Education.

It’s a strange affair that has shaken the Cité scolaire international de Grenoble in recent days. In January 2024, a Spanish teacher who was very popular with his students had his second grade class removed to be assigned to a fourth grade class.

Favored by a Renaissance deputy

This change would have been made in order to appoint another teacher for this second class, reveals Place Gre'net. This teacher had in fact wished on numerous occasions to no longer teach at the college. According to the teaching unions of Isère, the transfer order came directly from the Ministry of National Education, without going through the Grenoble rectorate. 

The profile of this professor calls out to the unions. This would in fact be the sister of a Renaissance MP, Claire Guichard, elected in Hauts-de-Seine. Claire Guichard is also a substitute deputy for Gabriel Attal who was then Minister of National Education at the time of the affair.

The teacher and the principal on sick leave

Contacted by our colleagues, the MP denies any favoritism, or any "nepotism", for use the word used by the unions, and explains that he wanted to restore his sister's rights. Which she sums up in one sentence: "I hate injustice and even more when it's towards my family".

Always according to Place Gre'net, the inter-union sees a situation "shocking and unacceptable". For his part, the teacher who had his second year class taken away is having a very hard time, and is currently on sick leave, just like the headmaster of the establishment who is also refusing to be admitted. ;apply the instructions.
