Gard Senator Laurent Burgoa joins the board of directors of the French Office for Biodiversity

Laurent Burgoa is also appointed vice-president of the Hunting and Fishing study group in the Senate.

On the proposal of the president of the Les Républicains group in the Senate, Bruno Retailleau, the Gardois Laurent Burgoa has just come ;be designated as a member of the Board of Directors of the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB) by the President of the Upper House of Parliament, Gérard Larcher.

Field experience is the best thing there is

Also appointed vice-president of the Hunting and Fishing study group, to which he has belonged since the start of his mandate in the Senate, Laurent Burgoa wants to bring "all his experience and his knowledge" in these areas, being keen to liaise between local elected officials and the Parisian administration. "The experience ground is the best thing ever. We need to work on a better perception of the OFB as well, so that elected officials better understand its missions, says the senator.& nbsp; 

3,000 agents work within the OFB

The OFB relies on the expertise of more than 3,000 agents to prevent and fight against attacks on biodiversity but also to better understand ecosystems, understand their functioning and their adaptation to the pressures around them. The themes of hunting, recreational fishing, forests and even the consequences of climate change are more specifically studied there, but also the "water police, which is currently at the heart of discussions between mayors and farmers, reports Laurent Burgoa who is due to meet, from the beginning of March, the director of the French Office for Biodiversity.
