Les pompiers sont intervenus ce mardi 20 février à Codognan, en raison d'une fuite de gaz provoquée par des travaux, rue de Vergèze.

It was 8:30 a.m. this Tuesday, February 20, when the Gard firefighters intervened for a gas leak on the public highway following work leading to the rupture of a pipe in Codognan.

The action of the emergency services deployed in large numbers (14) allowed rapid safety of the public in the exclusion perimeter and in the immediate vicinity of the # 39;incident, rue de Vergèze.

The town hall evacuated

In the morning, two vans evacuated 20 people and sheltered around ten others. The town hall of Codognan – located about a hundred meters from the incident – was temporarily deserted. Philippe Gras, mayor of the town, opened a room to safely accommodate the evacuated people. The sites mainly impacted were those of the town hall and the post office.

Return to calm around 11 a.m.

The gas distributor GRDF was able to cut off the network in order to carry out repair work during the day, temporarily depriving around 190 homes of gas. After negative explosimetry readings, the emergency services left the secure premises around 11 a.m., leaving GRDF with the tedious work of repairing and restarting the gas household by household.
