The Nîmes are participating from May 22 to 26 in the French 1st Division club championship on the Médoc golf course near Bordeaux.

Semi-finalist of the French club championship in 2023 and still the top eight since its return to the 1st Division five years ago, the Campagne de Nîmes golf club wants to do just as well in 2024.

"The objective is already to be in the eight, to maintain and above all play for the win", assumes coach Arnaud Gabellon at the end of the reconnaissance of the Médoc golf course near Bordeaux. "A superb layout, very selective with a rough which grew quite a bit with the rain. When we go astray we are quickly penalized, details the Nîmes coach who has confidence in his troops. I have young players who hit pretty hard. It's pretty good because the route is very long."

A rejuvenated group

It therefore corresponds to the qualities of the Country golfers selected to win the Gounouilhou trophy. "I have four new additions to the team. We have changed it quite a bit compared to last year. The young people did the job and had good results, so they joined the group “, explains Arnaud Gabellon. The Nîmes coach has therefore retained Gaspard Doléac (16 years old), Gaetan Veillon (17 years old), Nicolas Migeon (20 years old) and Eliot Vidal (20 years old) who will be supervised by the most experienced Hugo Archer, Romain Buttarazzi and Thomas Fanlo.

"Young people have a little less pressure than before. They play and ask fewer questions. I want to try to keep them in that dynamic. We're not going to put pressure on them, it has to be a competition like any other and they don't get too overwhelmed by emotions, they stay in the present and do what they need to do. they're used to doing it."

Team 2 will compete for the Pierre-Etienne Guyot trophy on the Château de Chailly golf course between Dijon and Macon. The team led by Romain Cortez will be composed of Alexandre Clemenson (captain), Enzo Coasne, Maxime Teissier, Guillaume Gazeau, Pantxoa Fournol, Santo Macaluso.
